Nicolas Feuillatte Brut NV 1.5 Litre
The Magnum Format: France's Best-Selling Champagne in the Format That Celebrates in Style
My Wine Man on Nicolas Feuillatte
Nicolas Feuillatte is France's best-selling Champagne. Founded in 1976 and backed by the Centre Vinicole de la Champagne — a cooperative of over 4,000 growers farming more than 2,200 hectares across the finest appellations in Champagne — Nicolas Feuillatte has access to an extraordinary breadth of Grand Cru and Premier Cru fruit. The Brut Réserve is the house flagship — a generous, fruit-forward NV blend that delivers genuine Champagne quality at an honest price. In Magnum format (1.5 litres, the equivalent of 2 standard bottles), it becomes the natural centrepiece for any celebration: the larger bottle slowing the ageing process, delivering a finer, more persistent mousse and greater complexity than the standard 75cl.
Tasting Notes
Deep golden yellow with fine, persistent bubbles. Rich and immediately inviting — yellow stone fruit leads: plum, apple compote, fig, and dried apricot, layered with delicate brioche and a subtle floral lift. On the palate, intense, deep, and unctuous — the ripe stone fruit of the nose carries through with beautiful generosity, supported by a creamy mousse and a full, harmonious palate. A long, warm, richly satisfying finish.
Style & Drinking Window
Medium to full-bodied with fine persistent bubbles and generous natural acidity. Drinking beautifully now. Serve at 8–10°C — allow 30–45 minutes in an ice bucket. Plan for approximately 12 glasses from a single Magnum.
Food Pairing
The generous stone fruit depth and creamy mousse of the Nicolas Feuillatte Brut Magnum make it a magnificent match for New Zealand Turkis Free Range Whole Chicken from My Meat Man. The wine's warmly satisfying finish complements the rich, full flavour of premium free-range whole chicken beautifully — whether roasted with lemon and thyme, spatchcocked over charcoal, or slow-cooked with Champagne, shallots, and herbs.
Why This Is a Smart Buy
At HKD 499 for 1.5 litres (the equivalent of 2 standard bottles), the Nicolas Feuillatte Brut Magnum works out at HKD 250 per bottle equivalent, making it one of the finest value Magnums available in Hong Kong.
