Macallan 12 Years Sherry Seasoned Oak Single Malt Whisky
Speyside's Most Iconic Single Malt — Twelve Years in Sherry-Seasoned Oak
The Macallan 12 Year Old Sherry Oak is the whisky that defined what a Speyside single malt could be — and remains the benchmark against which all sherry-matured Scotch whiskies are measured. Produced at The Macallan Distillery in Craigellachie, Speyside, from a combination of Golden Promise barley and natural spring water from the Easter Elchies estate, every drop is matured exclusively in hand-picked sherry-seasoned Spanish oak casks from Jerez, Spain. It is this uncompromising commitment to sherry oak maturation — a process that costs significantly more than conventional ageing — that gives The Macallan 12 its extraordinary richness, colour, and depth. At HK$888, this is the essential Speyside single malt for any serious whisky collection — a bottle that rewards every pour and impresses every guest.
Tasting Notes
Rich, deep gold in the glass with a warm amber glow that speaks immediately to the sherry cask influence. The nose is complex and immediately captivating — rich vanilla and dried fruit lead with hints of orange peel, cinnamon, and a gentle nuttiness from the Spanish oak. On the palate, the sherry seasoning is unmistakable: smooth and medium-bodied, with a beautifully balanced interplay of dried fruit — raisin, sultana, and fig — fresh oak, and warm baking spice. The fruit and oak are in perfect harmony, neither dominating the other, creating a whisky of genuine elegance and complexity. The finish is long, sweet, and deeply satisfying — dried fruits, oak, and spice linger warmly and gracefully, fading slowly in a way that invites another sip almost immediately.
