Don Julio Anejo 1942 Tequila 750 ml
The World's Most Celebrated Luxury Tequila — A Toast to Don Julio González
Don Julio 1942 is not just a tequila — it is a statement. Created to commemorate the year Don Julio González began his tequila-making journey in the Highlands of Jalisco, Mexico, this ultra-premium añejo is the bottle that redefined what luxury tequila could be. Handcrafted from 100% blue Weber agave plants grown for a minimum of seven years in the rich, iron-rich red clay soils of Los Altos, Jalisco, Don Julio 1942 is aged for a minimum of two and a half years in American white oak barrels — far beyond the legal minimum for añejo — developing a depth, richness, and complexity that places it firmly in the company of the world's finest aged spirits. At HK$2,088, this is the tequila you open for the moments that matter: celebrations, milestones, and the people who deserve the very best.
Tasting Notes
Deep, warm amber in the glass with a rich, luminous glow. The nose is immediately luxurious and complex — rich caramel and butterscotch lead with roasted agave, vanilla bean, and a warm hint of dark chocolate, layered with dried fruit and a subtle oak spice that speaks to the extended barrel ageing. On the palate, the tequila is full-bodied, silky, and extraordinarily smooth: caramel and vanilla dominate the front palate, giving way to roasted agave sweetness, cinnamon, and a gentle warmth from the 38% ABV. The finish is exceptionally long, warm, and deeply satisfying — caramel, oak, and a whisper of dark chocolate linger beautifully, fading slowly and gracefully in a way that only the finest aged spirits can manage. This is tequila at its absolute pinnacle.
Signature Cocktails
Don Julio 1942 Old Fashioned
- 60ml Don Julio 1942
- 5ml agave nectar
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- 1 dash mole bitters (optional)
- Ice (large single cube)
- Garnish: wide orange twist, flamed
Method: Add the agave nectar and bitters to a heavy-based rocks glass. Add a large single ice cube and pour in the Don Julio 1942. Stir gently for 20–25 seconds to chill and dilute without over-diluting. To garnish, hold a wide orange peel over the glass and flame it with a lighter to express the citrus oils across the surface — then run it around the rim and rest it on the ice. The agave nectar echoes the tequila's own sweetness, while the bitters add complexity without competing with the 1942's extraordinary character. This is the Old Fashioned reimagined for the world's finest tequila — and it is magnificent.
Don Julio 1942 Neat
- 60ml Don Julio 1942
- A fine crystal glass
- Room temperature or a single small ice cube
The honest recommendation: Don Julio 1942 is one of the rare spirits in the world that is genuinely best enjoyed neat, at room temperature, in a fine crystal glass. Pour generously. Hold the glass. Take a moment. The caramel, vanilla, and roasted agave will reveal themselves slowly and completely — no ice, no mixer, no distraction. This is a tequila that has earned the right to be the only thing in the glass. If you must add ice, use a single small cube and allow it to melt slowly, opening the spirit gently as it does. Either way, savour every sip. At HK$2,088 a bottle, you have earned it.
