Cointreau Liqueur 700 ml
The World's Finest Triple Sec — The Bartender's Essential Since 1875
Cointreau is the orange liqueur that every serious cocktail begins with. Created in Saint-Barthélemy-d'Anjou, France in 1875 by Édouard Cointreau, it remains the benchmark triple sec against which all others are measured — and for good reason. Made from a unique blend of sweet and bitter orange peels sourced from around the world, distilled in copper pot stills to a crystal-clear finish, Cointreau delivers a purity, intensity, and balance of orange flavour that no imitation has ever replicated. At 40% ABV, it has the strength to hold its own in any cocktail while remaining smooth enough to sip neat over ice. At HK$259 for 700ml, this is the non-negotiable bottle for any home bar worth its salt — the ingredient that separates a great Margarita from a mediocre one.
Tasting Notes
Crystal clear in the glass with a bright, luminous quality. The nose is intensely aromatic — fresh sweet orange zest leads with a vibrant, almost candied citrus character, balanced by the subtle bitterness of dried orange peel underneath. On the palate, the orange flavour is pure, precise, and beautifully balanced — sweet and bitter in perfect harmony, with a clean, warming alcohol backbone from the 40% ABV. The finish is long, dry, and refreshingly clean, with a lingering orange zest note that makes it one of the most versatile and satisfying liqueurs in the world.
Signature Cocktails
Classic Cointreau Margarita
- 50ml tequila (blanco or reposado)
- 25ml Cointreau
- 25ml fresh lime juice
- Ice
- Garnish: salt rim, lime wedge
Method: Run a lime wedge around the rim of a rocks glass and dip in flaky sea salt. Fill the glass with ice. Combine tequila, Cointreau, and fresh lime juice in a shaker with ice. Shake hard for 10–12 seconds. Strain into the prepared glass over fresh ice. Garnish with a lime wedge. This is the Margarita as it was always meant to be — Cointreau's pure orange intensity and 40% ABV give the cocktail a depth, balance, and length that triple sec substitutes simply cannot match. Once you make it this way, there is no going back.
Cointreau Cosmopolitan
- 40ml vodka
- 20ml Cointreau
- 20ml fresh lime juice
- 30ml cranberry juice
- Ice
- Garnish: orange twist, flamed
Method: Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake hard for 10–12 seconds until well chilled. Double-strain into a chilled martini glass. To garnish, hold an orange peel over the glass and flame it with a lighter to express the citrus oils — then drop it in. Cointreau's pure orange character is the backbone of a great Cosmopolitan, lifting the cranberry and lime into something genuinely elegant and balanced. The flamed orange twist is the finishing touch that transforms a good cocktail into a great one.
