Blade and Bow Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, 750 ml
A Kentucky Bourbon Steeped in Stitzel-Weller Legend — Fruit, Grain & Charred Oak
Blade and Bow is a Kentucky straight bourbon with a story as compelling as its flavour. Inspired by the legendary Stitzel-Weller Distillery — one of the most storied addresses in American whiskey history, home to some of the finest wheated bourbons ever produced — Blade and Bow honours that heritage through a solera-style ageing process that blends whiskeys of different ages, creating a bourbon of remarkable continuity, depth, and complexity. The name itself references the two parts of a skeleton key: the blade that enters the lock, and the bow that turns it — a nod to the keys that once hung at Stitzel-Weller, unlocking the rickhouses where the greatest bourbons in American history were stored. At HK$888 for 750ml, this is a bourbon for those who appreciate history, craft, and a flavour profile that is genuinely its own.
Tasting Notes
The nose opens softly and invitingly — fresh fruit leads with dried apricot, ripe pear, and a gentle floral sweetness that is immediately distinctive. On the palate, the entry is smooth and fruit-forward: dried apricot and pear give way to a delicious sweet roasted grain character through the mid-palate, with a creamy texture that speaks to the solera ageing process. The finish is warm and satisfying — charred oak and winter spices — cinnamon, clove, and a whisper of vanilla — build gently and linger long after the last sip, leaving the palate warm, complex, and thoroughly rewarded.
Signature Cocktails
Blade and Bow Old Fashioned
- 60ml Blade and Bow Bourbon
- 5ml simple syrup
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- 1 dash orange bitters
- Ice (large single cube)
- Garnish: orange twist, flamed
Method: Add the simple syrup and both bitters to a heavy-based rocks glass. Add a large single ice cube and pour in the Blade and Bow. Stir gently for 20–25 seconds to chill and dilute. Flame a wide orange peel over the surface to express the citrus oils, then run it around the rim and drop it in. The bourbon's dried fruit and roasted grain character makes it an exceptional Old Fashioned base — the bitters add complexity and depth while the orange twist amplifies the apricot and pear notes beautifully.
Blade and Bow Bourbon Sour
- 50ml Blade and Bow Bourbon
- 25ml fresh lemon juice
- 15ml simple syrup
- 1 egg white (optional)
- Ice
- Garnish: Angostura bitters drops on foam, dried apricot slice
Method: If using egg white, dry shake all ingredients first (no ice) for 10 seconds to emulsify. Add ice and shake hard for 12 seconds. Double-strain into a chilled coupe glass. Add 3 drops of Angostura bitters on the foam and garnish with a slice of dried apricot to echo the bourbon's own fruit character. The lemon juice cuts through the sweetness beautifully, lifting the dried fruit and roasted grain notes into a sour of genuine elegance and depth.
