For 16 years, John Duval was the chief winemaker of Penfolds — the custodian of Grange, Australia's most iconic wine. When he left to establish his own label in 2003, the wine world paid close attention. Entity is his flagship Shiraz: a wine that draws on everything he learned during those years at the pinnacle of Australian winemaking, now expressed through his own vision and his own selection of old-vine Barossa fruit.

Five Sub-Regions, One Extraordinary Blend

Entity is not a single-vineyard wine — it is something more complex. The 2020 draws fruit from old-vine vineyards across five Barossa sub-regions: Krondorf, Tanunda, Ebenezer, Moppa, and Eden Valley. Each contributes something distinct — the depth of Ebenezer, the spice of Eden Valley, the dark fruit of Tanunda — and John Duval's skill lies in weaving them into a wine that is greater than the sum of its parts.

Deeply Resonant, Built to Age

Deep-set blackberry, satsuma plum, and black cherry lead the nose, with hints of liquorice, dark chocolate, and earth adding complexity. The palate is defined by powdery, gypsum-like tannins — a hallmark of the finest old-vine Barossa Shiraz — with a bright line of acidity and a simmering sense of latent power on the concentrated, black-fruit-rich finish.
