Sourced from the Donaldson family's finest blocks on Waipara's free-draining limestone, the Prima Donna — named after the leading soprano of the opera — is consistently ranked among New Zealand's greatest Pinot Noirs. Now 6 years in bottle and drinking in a window of extraordinary complexity.

Tasting Notes

Spiced plum, red currant and dark cherry layered with earth, leather, cinnamon, mushroom and crushed thyme. Fine-grained tannins, a concentrated core and well-integrated acidity carry a long, harmonious finish — power and finesse in equal measure.

Food Pairing

Superb with Waitoa Free Range Chicken Breast from My Meat Man, pan-seared with thyme and a light cherry reduction. Also duck, lamb or truffle dishes. Decant 1 hour, serve at 16°C.
