2018 Escarpment 'Noir' Pinot Noir
Larry McKenna's Martinborough Pinot — 35 Years of Mastery in Every Bottle
The 2018 Escarpment 'Noir' Pinot Noir brings together 35 years of winemaking experience in New Zealand. Larry McKenna — widely regarded as New Zealand's greatest Pinot Noir winemaker — founded Escarpment in 2000. The Noir label is his most accessible expression: soft, bright and fruit-forward.
Tasting Notes
100% Martinborough hand-harvested fruit, open-top fermented with 21 days of total vat time, barrel aged for 11 months and bottled without filtration. Soft, bright and immediately appealing.
Style & Drinking Window
Light to medium-bodied with fine tannins and a fresh, fruit-driven character. Drinking beautifully now with 7 years of bottle age. Serve slightly chilled at 14°C.
Perfect Food Pairing
An elegant Pinot Noir like this pairs beautifully with free-range chicken — try with the Waitoa Free-Range Chicken Breast, available from our sister store My Meat Man. Premium New Zealand free-range chicken is the textbook pairing for elegant Martinborough Pinot Noir.
