2018 Bird in Hand Shiraz
Cool-Climate Adelaide Hills Shiraz from a Gold Rush Legacy
The 2018 Bird in Hand Shiraz takes its name from one of the Adelaide Hills' most storied gold mines and delivers cool-climate Adelaide Hills Shiraz at its most approachable — rich, fragrant and beautifully balanced.
My Wine Man on Bird in Hand
Bird in Hand is one of the Adelaide Hills' most respected estates. The Shiraz is their fuller-bodied cool-climate expression — riper than the Syrah but still carrying the spice and lift that defines cool-climate Shiraz.
Tasting Notes
Deep crimson. Black pepper, blueberry, dark cherry, plum, dried herbs and a touch of mocha. The palate is medium to full-bodied with ripe tannins and a long, peppery finish.
Style & Drinking Window
Medium to full-bodied cool-climate Shiraz. Drinking well now and through 2030. Decant 30 minutes.
Food Pairing
A cool-climate Adelaide Hills Shiraz pairs beautifully with lamb. We love it with Australian Grass-Fed Lamb Cutlets from My Meat Man — quickly grilled with rosemary, garlic and a crack of black pepper, a magnificent match for Bird in Hand's peppery, cool-climate Shiraz character.
