James Halliday 95 Points — 150-Year-Old Barossa Vines at an Extraordinarily Honest Price

My Wine Man on Turkey Flat

Turkey Flat is one of the Barossa Valley's most historic estates — farming some of the oldest Shiraz vines in Australia, planted in 1847. The Butchers Block is the estate's flagship Shiraz-Grenache-Mataro blend, drawing on these extraordinary 150-year-old dry-grown bushvines.

Tasting Notes

Deep crimson with bright fruit. Dark plum, blackberry, Grenache cherry lift, Mataro spice, dried herbs and a touch of cedar. The palate is full-bodied with ripe tannins and a long, generous finish. 95 Points — James Halliday.

Style & Drinking Window

Full-bodied with ripe tannins. Drinking beautifully now and through 2030. Decant 30 minutes.

Food Pairing

A 95-point Barossa GSM from 150-year-old vines deserves a generous match. We love it with Australian Grass-Fed Lamb Backstrap from My Meat Man — pan-seared rare with rosemary and garlic, a magnificent match for Butchers Block's dark plum, Grenache cherry and Mataro spice.
