2016 Rolf Binder Veritas Winery Heysen Shiraz
Rolf Binder's Heysen Shiraz — Old-Vine Barossa from a Family Estate
The 2016 Rolf Binder Veritas Winery Heysen Shiraz is a single-vineyard Barossa Shiraz from one of the valley's most respected family producers.
My Wine Man on Rolf Binder
Rolf Binder is one of the Barossa Valley's most respected family wine producers, with vineyards on some of the region's most prized sites. Heysen is named after Sir Hans Heysen, the celebrated Australian artist who painted many Barossa landscapes — fitting for a Shiraz that captures the depth and character of the region.
Tasting Notes
Deep crimson. Dark plum, blackberry, dark chocolate, mocha, leather and a touch of clove. The palate is full-bodied with ripe velvety tannins and a long, generous finish.
Style & Drinking Window
Full-bodied with velvety tannins. Drinking beautifully now and through 2030. Decant 1 hour.
Food Pairing
A premium Barossa Shiraz deserves the finest beef. We love it with Australian Grass-Fed Cape Grim Rib-Eye Steak from My Meat Man — dry-aged and char-grilled medium-rare with bone-marrow butter, a magnificent match for Heysen's dark plum, mocha and velvety old-vine Barossa tannins.
