2016 JJ Hahn 1890's Vineyard Shiraz
JJ Hahn 1890's Vineyard Shiraz — From Some of the Oldest Shiraz Vines on Earth
The 2016 JJ Hahn 1890's Vineyard Shiraz is sourced from vines planted in 1890 — among the oldest surviving Shiraz vines on the planet — making this a genuinely historic Barossa Shiraz.
My Wine Man on JJ Hahn
JJ Hahn is a small Barossa Valley producer whose flagship Shiraz comes from a single, dry-grown vineyard planted in 1890. These pre-phylloxera bushvines produce wines of extraordinary concentration and historical significance.
Tasting Notes
Deep crimson with profound concentration. Dark plum, blackberry, dark chocolate, mocha, leather and a touch of clove. The palate is full-bodied with ripe velvety tannins and a long, generous finish.
Style & Drinking Window
Full-bodied with velvety tannins. Drinking beautifully now and through 2032. Decant 1 hour.
Food Pairing
A Shiraz from 130-year-old vines deserves the finest beef. We love it with Australian Grass-Fed Cape Grim Rib-Eye Steak from My Meat Man — dry-aged and char-grilled medium-rare with bone-marrow butter, a magnificent match for the 1890's Vineyard dark plum, mocha and velvety old-vine Barossa tannins.
