2016 Eldredge Blue Chip Clare Valley Shiraz
An Unabashedly Hedonistic Clare Valley Shiraz — Aged in American Oak from One of the Region's Family Estates
My Wine Man on Eldredge
Eldredge is a family-owned winery in the Clare Valley, producing a small range of expressive, generous reds that are made to drink and enjoy. The Blue Chip Shiraz is their most unabashedly hedonistic wine — aged 18 months in American oak for richness, warmth and broad-shouldered drinkability.
Tasting Notes
Deep crimson. Ripe plum, blackberry, vanilla bean, mocha, dark chocolate and a hint of toasted coconut from the American oak. The palate is full-bodied and generous — ripe tannins, plush texture and a long, warm finish.
Style & Drinking Window
Full-bodied, ripe and generous. Drinking well now and through 2028. No decanting required.
Food Pairing
A ripe, oak-driven Clare Valley Shiraz is a natural BBQ partner. We love it with Australian Grass-Fed Cape Grim Sirloin Steak from My Meat Man — char-grilled medium-rare with a touch of smoke, the clean beefiness is a magnificent match for the Blue Chip's ripe plum, vanilla oak and plush Clare Valley tannins.
