A Tasmanian Gem from One of Australia's Most Exciting Cool-Climate Regions

My Wine Man on Eddystone Point

Eddystone Point is a label born from the rugged, windswept beauty of Tasmania's northeast coast — named after the iconic lighthouse that stands guard over the Bass Strait. Produced by Brown Brothers under their premium Tasmanian portfolio, Eddystone Point draws fruit from some of the coolest, most pristine vineyard sites in Australia. Tasmania's unique maritime climate — long, cool growing seasons, low yields, and dramatic diurnal temperature shifts — produces Pinot Noir of remarkable elegance, precision, and varietal purity. This is cool-climate winemaking at its most expressive: restrained, refined, and built to reward patience.

Tasting Notes

Hand-picked from the Derwent Valley, East Coast and Coal River Valley, fermented in temperature-controlled open stainless steel fermenters, basket-pressed, and matured in French oak (25% new). Bright crimson-purple; an elegant, perfectly balanced Pinot with pure red fruits, silky tannins and integrated oak — the length impeccable.

Style & Drinking Window

Medium-bodied and elegant, this is a Pinot Noir that prioritises finesse over power. The cool Tasmanian climate delivers bright acidity and fine tannin structure that make it versatile at the table. Now drinking beautifully in its mature window (2024–2027), it benefits from a 30-minute decant to open up its aromatic complexity. Serve slightly cool at 14–16°C for best expression.

Food Pairing

The silky texture and bright acidity of the 2015 Eddystone Point Pinot Noir make it a natural partner for Waitoa Free Range Chicken Tenderloin from My Meat Man. The wine's red fruit character and earthy undertones complement the delicate, clean flavour of free-range chicken beautifully — whether roasted with herbs, pan-seared with a mushroom sauce, or served as a light summer salad.

Why This Is a Smart Buy

At HK$168, the 2015 Eddystone Point Pinot Noir offers outstanding value for a mature, cool-climate Tasmanian Pinot Noir. Tasmanian wines of this quality and provenance are increasingly sought after by collectors and sommeliers worldwide, yet remain underpriced relative to their Burgundian counterparts. This is a wine that punches well above its price point — elegant, food-friendly, and ready to drink now.
