Domaine Clarendon Syrah — Clarendon Hills' Most Accessible Single-Vineyard Expression

The 2013 Clarendon Hills Domaine Clarendon Syrah is the most accessible expression of one of Australia's most uncompromising fine wine estates — a single-vineyard McLaren Vale Syrah with a decade-plus of bottle age.

My Wine Man on Clarendon Hills

Clarendon Hills was established by Roman Bratasiuk in 1990 with a singular obsession: to make the finest possible Syrah and Grenache from McLaren Vale's oldest, most stressed vines. The Domaine Clarendon Syrah is the entry-point to the Clarendon Hills range — but still made with the same uncompromising philosophy that has earned the estate's flagship wines perfect Parker scores.

Tasting Notes

Deep garnet with developing complexity. Dark plum, blackberry, dried herbs, leather and a touch of cedar. The palate is full-bodied with ripe tannins and a long, savoury finish.

Style & Drinking Window

Full-bodied with integrated tannins. Drinking beautifully now and through 2032. Decant 1 hour.

Food Pairing

An aged Clarendon Hills Syrah deserves the finest beef. We love it with Australian Grass-Fed Cape Grim Rib-Eye Steak from My Meat Man — dry-aged and char-grilled medium-rare with bone-marrow butter, a magnificent match for Domaine Clarendon's dark plum, leather and McLaren Vale tannins.
