2007 dArenberg Love Grass Shiraz
d'Arenberg is one of McLaren Vale's most celebrated and eccentric producers — a fourth-generation family estate run by the irrepressible Chester Osborn, making wines of extraordinary character and longevity. The Love Grass Shiraz is one of their single-vineyard bottlings, named after the native grass that grows between the vine rows. The 2007 is now 19 years old and drinking at its absolute peak.
My Wine Man
This is for the collector or the wine lover who wants to experience what great McLaren Vale Shiraz becomes with age. The Love Grass is less well-known than the Dead Arm, but it's every bit as serious — a single-vineyard wine of real depth and complexity that has had nearly two decades to find its equilibrium. A rare and special bottle.
Tasting Notes
Deep, brooding and complex — the hallmarks of aged McLaren Vale Shiraz at its finest. Dark fruit, licorice, leather and earth, with the oak fully integrated after 19 years in bottle. The tannins have softened beautifully, leaving a wine of remarkable harmony and length. This is what patience tastes like.
Style & Drinking Window
Full-bodied with silky, integrated tannins and a long, complex finish. Now in its prime drinking window — drink now through 2030. Decant for at least an hour before serving at 17–19°C. A natural match for slow-roasted lamb, wagyu beef, duck confit, or aged hard cheeses.
Why This Is a Smart Buy
The Love Grass is a serious single-vineyard McLaren Vale Shiraz from one of Australia's most iconic estates. At HK$199, a 19-year-old bottle from d'Arenberg that is drinking at its peak is exceptional value — this is the kind of wine that belongs on a special occasion table.

For the d'Arenberg flagship, the 2015 d'Arenberg The Dead Arm Shiraz is the benchmark McLaren Vale Shiraz. For a more current Dead Arm release, the 2018 d'Arenberg The Dead Arm Shiraz is drinking beautifully now. For a peer McLaren Vale Shiraz from the same era, the 2018 Pertaringa Over The Top Shiraz is a great comparison.
