2021 Amisfield Central Otago Pinot Noir
2021 Amisfield Pinot Noir
Amisfield is one of Central Otago's most respected producers — a lakeside estate in Lowburn known for expressive, structured Pinot Noir and some of the region's most consistent cellar-worthy wines. The 2021 vintage is a more serious, structured expression built for ageing rather than early drinking.
My Wine Man
This is for the Pinot lover who wants depth and structure over easy fruit.
The 2021 Amisfield is firmly in the more serious camp — firm, complex and built to evolve over time. It rewards patience and will show its best with a few years in bottle.
Tasting Notes
Dark cherry skin, blackcurrant and wild berries lead the nose, followed by dried herbs, thyme and subtle smoky oak spice.
The palate is full and structured with firm, chalky tannins and a savoury core of black fruit, wood smoke and herbal complexity. Acidity provides lift and length, keeping everything focused and age-worthy.
Food Pairing
A structured, age-worthy Central Otago Pinot like this deserves a refined cut. We love it with Grass Fed White Stripe Premium Lamb Rack Frenched Cap from My Meat Man — herb-crusted, medium-rare, the precise iron-rich character of the lamb rack matches the wine's dark cherry, blackcurrant and herbal complexity beautifully, while the firm chalky tannins and bright acidity carry the dish with effortless elegance. Equally good with duck, mushroom risotto or aged hard cheese.
Why this is a smart buy
A benchmark Central Otago producer delivering a structured, cellar-worthy Pinot Noir.
