95 Points James Halliday — Sevenhill's Premium Reserve Clare Valley Shiraz

The 2019 Sevenhill Brother John May Reserve Shiraz is a 95-point flagship Clare Valley Shiraz from one of Australia's oldest continuously operating wineries.

My Wine Man on Sevenhill

Sevenhill was founded in 1851 by Jesuit priests in the Clare Valley — one of Australia's oldest continuously operating wineries and the only one still run by a religious order. The Brother John May Reserve is the estate's flagship Shiraz, named for one of the Jesuit brothers central to the winery's history.

Tasting Notes

Deep crimson. Dark plum, blackberry, dark chocolate, mocha, vanilla bean and a touch of cedar. Full-bodied with ripe velvety tannins and a long, generous finish. 95 Points — James Halliday.

Style & Drinking Window

Full-bodied with velvety tannins. Drinking beautifully now and through 2032. Decant 1 hour.

Food Pairing

A 95-point Clare Valley flagship deserves the finest beef. We love it with Australian Grass-Fed Cape Grim Rib-Eye Steak from My Meat Man — dry-aged and char-grilled medium-rare with bone-marrow butter.
