95 Points – James Halliday — A Vivid, Elegant Decade-Aged Barossa Shiraz

Teusner The Wark Family Barossa Valley Shiraz 2015 is a vivid, elegant and beautifully aged Barossa Shiraz from one of the valley's most celebrated boutique producers — fragrant, layered and built with the extraordinary old-vine character that has made Teusner one of the Barossa's most cult and respected names.

My Wine Man on Teusner

Kym Teusner founded Teusner in 2001 with a clear focus: small batches, old-vine fruit, minimal intervention, and an obsessive attention to detail. The Wark Family Shiraz is one of the winery's most respected single-vineyard expressions — and one of the cult bottles of the Barossa.

Tasting Notes

Deep crimson with a developing rim. Blackberry, plum, dark chocolate, leather, dried herbs and a touch of cedar. Full-bodied with silky integrated tannins and a long, complex finish. 95 Points — James Halliday.

Style & Drinking Window

Full-bodied with silky tannins. Drinking beautifully now at 10 years of age, with structure to continue through 2030. Decant for 1 hour.

Food Pairing

A 95-point old-vine Barossa Shiraz deserves a centre-of-the-plate match. We love it with Australian Grass-Fed Lamb Backstrap from My Meat Man — pan-seared rare with rosemary, garlic and a knob of butter, the tender herbaceous lamb is a magnificent match for The Wark Family's blackberry, leather and silky old-vine tannins.
