2015 Journeys End Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon
10 Years of Bottle Age — A Classic Coonawarra Cabernet at a Remarkable Price
The 2015 Journeys End Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon is a wine that has done the hard work for you — a decade of bottle age has softened the tannins, integrated the oak, and allowed the classic Coonawarra character to fully express itself. Still retaining good freshness, this is a textbook example of what Coonawarra Cabernet looks like at its best.
My Wine Man on Journeys End
Journeys End is a South African-owned estate with vineyards in both South Africa and Coonawarra — one of Australia's most celebrated Cabernet Sauvignon regions. The Coonawarra Cabernet draws on the region's famous terra rossa soils over limestone, producing wines of classic structure and regional identity. At 10 years old and HK$159, this is one of the most compelling value propositions in the store — aged Coonawarra Cabernet at an everyday price.
Tasting Notes
Deep midnight black with a dark red-black hue. Elevated scents of blackcurrant, mulberry, and cedary tobacco, trailed by hints of black olive, dried herbs, and spice. Medium to full-bodied with a wave of rich blackcurrant and mulberry fruit on the palate, underscored by dusty vanillin cedar, tobacco leaf, black olive, and dried herb nuances. Well-integrated, fine-grained tannins provide excellent structure, with a long, dark-fruited aftertaste complexed by accents of dried herbs and tobacco. A classic Coonawarra Cabernet in all respects.
Style & Drinking Window
Medium to full-bodied with fine-grained tannins and excellent freshness for its age. Drinking beautifully now and will continue to hold through 2028. Decant for 45 minutes to 1 hour to allow the wine to fully open up.
Perfect Food Pairing
A characterful Cabernet pairs beautifully with premium beef — try with the Cape Grim Premium Beef Mince, available from our sister store My Meat Man.
