2015 CVNE Cune Crianza Rioja DOCa
One of Rioja's Most Historic Bodegas — Classic Crianza Elegance with 10 Years of Bottle Age
My Wine Man on CVNE
CVNE — Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España — is one of the great historic houses of Rioja, founded in 1879 by the Real de Asua brothers and still family-owned and operated today. The Cune Crianza is the estate's most approachable and food-friendly expression — a Tempranillo-dominant blend aged for the minimum Crianza requirement in American oak, producing a wine of classic Rioja character: fresh, elegant, and built for the table.
Tasting Notes
Sour cherry and small red berries lead on the nose, with fine wood and a delicate spice that speaks to the American oak ageing. Medium-bodied in extract but with a very fine flow — finely nerved, all of a piece, and almost Pinot-like in its refinement and transparency.
Style & Drinking Window
Medium-bodied with fine, elegant tannins, bright natural acidity, and a clean, fresh finish. A natural food wine. Drinking beautifully now with 10 years of bottle age, and will continue to hold through 2027–2030.
Perfect Food Pairing
A Rioja is the classic lamb pairing — try with the Herbert Adams Lamb & Rosemary Pies, available from our sister store My Meat Man. The slow-cooked lamb and aromatic rosemary in these premium pies is the textbook match for a classic Rioja Crianza.
