2010 Torbreck The Factor Shiraz
Iconic Barossa Shiraz from Torbreck — Sixteen Years of Maturity
The 2010 Torbreck The Factor Shiraz is one of the Barossa Valley's most celebrated cult Shiraz wines — a powerful, deeply structured 100% Shiraz built on intensity, concentration, and long-term ageing potential. Now sixteen years old, the 2010 is drinking at a beautiful stage: the tannins have softened, the fruit has integrated with the oak, and the wine reveals the extraordinary complexity that comes only with patience.
My Wine Man on Torbreck
Torbreck Vintners was founded in 1994 by David Powell, who set out to revive the Barossa's old-vine Shiraz heritage — pursuing single-vineyard parcels of pre-phylloxera fruit and producing them with low intervention and unapologetic ambition. The Factor sits near the top of Torbreck's Shiraz range, sourced from old-vine Barossa Shiraz and matured in French oak. It is a wine that has built a cult following among collectors around the world.
Tasting Notes
Deep, brooding ruby-purple in the glass with the slow, viscous tears of a wine of significant weight. The bouquet is a layered tapestry of dark plum, blackberry, mocha, and spice, with the cedar and toast of long oak ageing now beautifully integrated. The palate is full and concentrated, with the depth and richness that has made The Factor one of the Barossa's most recognised modern icons. Sixteen years of bottle age has brought elegance to the fruit weight, with fine, ripe tannins providing structure for years of further development.
Style & Drinking Window
Full-bodied with deep concentration, integrated oak, and well-structured tannins. Drinking beautifully now with sixteen years of bottle age, and will continue to develop through 2030–2035. Decant for at least two hours to allow the wine to fully open up.
Perfect Food Pairing
A wine of this stature deserves the finest beef — try with the Wagyu Beef Burger Patty, available from our sister store My Meat Man.
