2015 Stonier KBS Vineyard Chardonnay

This is cool and inviting; not giving too many of its components and their application techniques away. Oak, a wafting vanilla and cedar, admittedly drifts across the nostrils, yet this is to be expected at a nascent stage. As a result, it's almost folly to write about the wine's making aside to say that the fruit hails from the coolest corner of the block and that mlf was eschewed in favour of long lees ageing and a single, selected puncheon. Voila! Asides, curd, truffle, the straw from a freshly laid tatami mat and a faint whiff of stone fruit are mere teases. Rich, yet tensile; febrile, yet round, warm and mouth-coating. This is a stunning wine of intriguing dichotomies.
